Big Sky

Montana

Tucked into the Madison Range of SW Montana sits the vibrant mountain town of Big Sky. As its name suggests, its untouched, organic surroundings are the primary draw that brings year-round visitors and residents seeking a simple mountain lifestyle more deeply connected to nature.

Among Big Sky’s many charming attributes is its small-town feel and friendly, local community. The easy access to skiing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, natural hot springs and various water sports on Lake Levinsky or other remote alpine lakes also contributes to its broadening appeal. The region is also known as a much sought after fly-fishing destination, with multiple blue-ribbon rivers, including the famous Gallatin River.

Big Sky is also home to the award-winning, Arnold Palmer-designed golf course at Big Sky Resort, plus several private tracks: The Reserve at Moonlight Basin (Jack Nicklaus-designed), the Club at Spanish Peaks, and the Yellowstone Golf Club at Yellowstone Club (both private Tom Weiskopf courses).

After a day spent outside, residents and visitors enjoy festivals and events, the Big Sky Farmers market, or shopping, dining, and sipping craft beer in Big Sky Town Center. Several lodging options also exist in Big Sky, including two new properties, Montage Big Sky and, coming soon, One & Only Moonlight Basin. In short, there really is something here for everybody.

The economy in Big Sky currently employs 2.17K people, with hospitality, entertainment & recreation, and health care & social assistance being the leading industries. The Town Center district, described on its website as a “165-acre walking village”, has experienced major growth since its inception in 2001 and further expansion is expected as developers work towards an evolving master site plan and new businesses continue to flock to the region.

In addition to its promising economy, Big Sky residents enjoy low property taxes, zero sales tax, A-rated schools, and an incredibly low crime rate. If you’re looking for a family-friendly place to call home with ample access to the great outdoors and growth & development on the horizon, look no further than Big Sky.
